I got to go to an auction over the week end ! I've been looking for a particular item for a long while now! I got it! Yeah and it was only $20.00 ohhh how I love it! I have put it for now in the library. It needed a comfy reading chair.
It's right next to the window. It's a lazy boy! Perfect condition. In all if her 1980s rusty polyester glory! She doesn't match a thing in the whole house! But we all love her. I was trying her out Saturday morning, and everyone decided to join me. I put a bird feeder outside the library window. Perfect spot for reading and watching the birds.
And have a cup of coffee. Lucky always gets those last few drops! As he is demonstrating in the pic.
Took me a long time to realize he was doing this cause I never saw him. Till lately I've caught him a few times !

Time piece
Every old farm has at least a few ghost from days gone by. Still lingering about mostly over looked. Below are a few I see daily. When I come in the very old picket fence gate to my yard, there is an old boot scrap buried just to the right. Somebody put it there. It's just an old hand forged piece of iron. To scrape your muddy boots on. I'm sure the farm wife was glad to have it.
At the garage ( old carriage shed) the latch that let's you in is probably as old as the shed fits 2 cars! The latch has a small wooden piece whittled into a wedge attached to a chain that fits between the latch and the door. It keeps the doors tight so they don't blow in the wind!
There is a mail box located just outside the picket fence. The original mail box from long ago. The folks that lived here before me were elderly. The post man delivered the mail right to there door. Almost!
At the base of the mailbox there are some old iron horse shoes, just tossed there. Many many years ago. I know they are very very old they were made for draft horses. It's one of the pleasures of living on an old farmstead sometimes you discover pieces of history. It's always fun to find them they always make me smile!

Happy Earth day!
I know things in my world have been a tiny bit depressing lately so just so ya know things are fine. I try not to dwell on things in the previous post so just thought I'd let ya know I am ok! I have so many blessings in my life. Right now a d always. I will be a tree planter! I will put the negative things behind me. There are always going to be things we cannot control. So we must do the best with the things we can and move on! Standing here at my front gate with my beloved pets. Enjoying a flock of blue jays, the sun on my face, I can see the llamas and hear the creek. Life is good!

Why?
The area between the backside of my barn, and the road was sold a few years ago to the farmer who bought the farm land originally part of this farmstead. He doesn't live anywhere around me. He has a pole barn in the field next to my house. To house his farm equipment. We don't get along so well. Sometimes my animals get out as animals will. Bad fence, bad animals! Normally when I am not home.he threatens to shoot them. I threaten to shoot him, no not out loud. ANYway, no love lost. Now I wish I had shot him! No really! Below are pictures of the mass destruction taking place. I am just sick. This is a creek wet land area good for nothing except what it is. Creek wetland. Helps prevent top soil erosion. There is a 400 acre of farm land, then the small hillsides that go down into the creek and the road. It's GONE. This buffer of land and trees, scrubs, weeds, bushes, marshy stuff gone! He can't really farm it except maybe a couple of acres. So much destruction. For what?

Time goes fast!
I know it's been a while since last post so here is a fast catch up on what's happening at the farm! Living room is almost done! We are currently working on library. Painting, painting, and more.
During all this was my spring break. And on the last day, Ellie came to live with us. She is a pound puppy. She is a mix of some sort. We're not sure maybe some jack Russell in their somewhere. She is VERY shy and has lived most of her 9 months in the shelter. We at this point are just trying to gain her trust. Lucky loves her! She is a bit bigger then he is. But of course he doesn't know it! It's been a week today, and she is slowly coming round. It's a joy to our hearts to see her progress with trust.
Spring is teasing us with high temps and sun one day, cold and rainy the next.
But ill take the rain, all we can get.
Lots of people ( farmers) tearing out trees around here! It really gets to me. However one day on my home from work I did see a new home, actually planting trees! There is hope!
After getting the house back in shape from the furnace mishap, I will be starting back in at the shop. This makes me very happy as my daughter has agreed to come home and be my partner! She is super talented. Together I feel a success coming our way! Ok so time to leave you with some pix of all the above mentioned stuff! Enjoy till next time.
