Vintiques

Vintiques is open!

I should say was open! It was a fast and furious weekend! We some how pulled it off we opened the tiny little shop! I have lots of ideas about its future. I just hope I can keep some type of momentum for it! Because we are exhausted !

But what fun we had visiting with folks coming in the shop! And so much positive feed back from so many people we didn't even know!
So today is a day off . I must somehow catch up with all the housework that I have let go! The dinning room table full of clean laundry , and the mudroom floor full of dirty laundry!  Got the kitchen done first so I could make a cup of coffee first thing.
The bathroom was looking to much like a gas station bathroom for my comfort level got all the bedding washed and out on the line! It's such a pretty day today! Fall is defiantly here. I am loving it so much more then the summer seems like it was just to hot to do anything outside  except swim and then I would see all the wilting and dried up crunchy grass so it wasn't even worth going to the pool. But its over. We got over 2.60 inches of rain last Friday !
,
We had a wind storm on Saturday Will got all of the patio furniture fished out of the pool! So many things to look forward to! And I believe there is water in the creek again. So I will enjoy this second cup of coffee read a few blogs and get back to helping this house be ready for a new week.

Tomorrow at preschool we are taking a trip to a local orchard. It's one of my favorite field trips. The kids have fun too! So for now I will try to put up some pictures of the shop!

Hannah's Creek Vintiques flash sale!

Hannah's Creek Farm Vintiques flash sale!

Well we are almost ready for our sale this coming week end! Lots of fun furniture ! In the tiny town of New Paris Ohio there is going to be a little country festival put on by the local orchard. The Apple fest! Ive cleaned out the garage and barn hoping to make a little extra cash. If all goes well we may even open a tiny little shop there on the week ends.

Our little building is across the street from a large restored 3 floor old IOOF building. It now houses an antiques mall. I am excited to see how it goes and sample being a shop keeper! I'd love to have our vintage things along with some locally made candles, soaps and jewelry.

Some of our items have been painted with Anne Sloan Chalk Paint. I have really enjoyed using it and painting the furniture. It brings out my creative side. And helps me feel better about parting with some pieces Ive had forever just sitting around. Much easier to part with if I can make a little money and know its going to someone who will get some use from it not just gathering more dust in the barn. So I will try to post a picture with some of the painted pieces. I am excited to see where this adventure will take us! And the bonus is I get to have fun with my partner as well! He has really been supportive as well as helpful!

The swallows are gone!

The swallows are gone!

The swallows are gone! I will miss them so. Always look forward to seeing them in the spring. It was a hard year for them with the drought. Many times while taking a late afternoon swim in the pool they would fly in for a drink! I don't believe I had ever noticed them doing this before. I will miss watching them work hard to build their nest, or seeing new families in old nest wondering if it's of the same family as the one before. The kids at farm camp love seeing the new babies that seem to grow up overnight . Yesterday in the heat of the day I noticed flies about the faces of the horses. While they were going into the barn. Ummmm first clue the swallows were gone. Never a fly to be found in the barn when the swallows are here! The photo above is a picture of an old electric wire going from the barn to the old chicken house. Its not been live for over 20 years but we left it for the swallows. I am always happy to see them when they arrive. And sad when I notice they are gone. I have been hearing our little screech owls in the evenings and the coyotes. This morning while having coffee on the front porch I had several visits from the humming birds. They will be the next to leave....but the squirrels are chatting up a storm better get their sunflower seeds out to them I'm late!

Anne Sloan chalk paint chair! First piece done!

Anne Sloan chalk paint chair first piece!

Farm stay, Anne Sloan paint, flash sale!

So many irons in the fire right now. For a l o n g time now I've been working on an area of our  home to become a self contained cottage. When I bought this house so many years  ago, the area was a summer kitchen and a coal room. It is now 3 rooms kitchen, living/sleeping area, bathroom, and small sleeping loft. Many people have helped me with this project. Many times it has stalled. But my goal is to have it functional by the end of the year. It will be a farm stay. That's one of my dreams.
People from the city can come and get away with their families.

Also one of my dreams is to buy and sell vintage wares long before they became so popular as they are today. Maybe a spring and fall barn sale. Well I've collected so much "stuff " over the years it's time to get rid of some of it. That's the thing about having a barn, you get to fill it up. And I've just about manged that. Complete with a 1958 vintage tiny glaspar boat, waiting reno, a 1976 volkswagon bug, the love of my life. And a 1964 travel trailer!
Oh yeah and things that belong in the barn. Like the 1958 ford 8n tractor, grader, bushog, ect. And horses and llamas and a whole bunch of old cobwebby stuff I've collected over the years. It's time Will my partner has an old building in on main street of a very small town nearby. Across the street from an old building turned into an antiques mall. So they are having a festival street fair on the weekend of sept 21 so yep you guessed it we are having our first ever Hannah's creek vintiques flash sale. I've been busy cleaning and painting furniture for the sale. Yes I've even purchased a few items for resale here and there. Today we are going over to get the building ready to accept the items. The idea is if things sell well we may open a tiny shop of our own. We've been lots of places looking at these types of shops. None nearby though.

So thats a lot of irons for me oh yeah and we bought a tiny little rental in the same town. Well be working on that too. Hope the farm stay gets done by dec 1. But not holding my breath!
Hope everyone is having a great week end!
