Rainy day thoughts

Well the weekend has come and gone! I didn't take one picture of the shop opening. It was truly a beautiful weekend. The sun came out to show us all there is a God after this winter and she still loves us! The weather brought out so many people from all over. I even had one retired couple from Washington state. They are on the way to the Kentucky derby. " It's on her bucket list " the older gentleman told me. Too sweet. I must put up the map of the us so people can pin where they are from. I had the 1964 travel trailer there for tours. All dolled up in her vintage chennel. I truly do enjoy visiting with everyone who comes in.  A darling lady Paula came in we have a mutual friend who told me about her hand made greeting cards. She brought some in for me to sell. They are like miniature works of art.

So after the hustle an bustle of last weeks preschool art show, and the opening of the shop. I am welcoming a nice rainy day. The flowers outdoors are loving it. The grass is emerald green! There is a photo of a Christmas cactus. My mother gave it to me in November . It belonged to my grandma. My mom forgot and left it outside. It was in pretty bad shape . I didn't think it was going to make it. I purchased some special potting soil for cacti and repotted it in a pot I had here. Then waited for a long time and little by little she is coming round. So pretty now with new growth.

A success story.

In other news .... There was a horse in the yard this morning... Someone left a gate open while mowing yesterday.
There is a tiny screened window in my original storm doors. I wonder what they were for? To let a bit of fresh air in when you don't really want to open a large window or open the door full well before you put in the screens for the summer? I hope you all get to enjoy a rainy day now and then. They are so nice AFTER a sunny week end. Not the other way around. Blessings to you all. The pets on a pillow is of Ellie our pound puppy and her big ol tom cat Rufus. He is too sweet for his own good she likes to drag him around by his neck! And he let's her! I many times have scolded her for this. The other cat um NO way she is a real cat and would let Ellie know in a heart beat what is not acceptable! Enjoy your week all!

Vintiques

Vintiques is the name of my little shop in New Paris Ohio, I've collected vintage and antiques for most of my life. It's exciting getting ready for the reopening for the season. It is located across the street from a very nice historical building that houses an antique mall. New Paris is where my partner Will is from. He owns the building vintiques is in and has been remodeling it for several years now. Doing most of it by himself . It was almost in a state most people would have had it torn down . I will have a pictorial history of the buildings remodel available for our opening. It is 100 this year! So we are celebrating it's birthday as well as the opening of the shop. My daughter Kelsey has agreed to make up some candles for the shop. While they are not vintage she has created a line with vintiques in mind. The candles will be poured into vintage containers and will create a signature sent just for the shop that bears our name. Others will be for hannahs creek farm as well as her own line . Very fun indeed. A joint venture, so to speak. And she makes them here on the farm. The smell is heaven.

Getting lost having girl friend fun

It just pored buckets of water! The thunder was so loud it made me jump! The traffic was a mess, backed up for miles due to an accident ! We were about 40 minutes away from where we should have already been. We were ready for our "ladies sit down with tea lunch" we were pulled over at a gas station using the-facilities. We ate a gas station hot dog and bag of snicky snacks. We found our way. Sometime later to our destination . We ooohed and awwwed . We found our ladies lunch with tea. We laughed we shoped we got lost too many times to count. We found our way home from the big city. Our basements were flooded. But we had fun!

It's done it's done well it's almost done, mud room

I moved into this old farm house more than 17 years ago. My daughter had her 5 th birthday the year we moved in. One of many birthdays to be celebrated here. I was still married to my first husband. We collected more animals than you can think of. Horses, llamas, calf, pigs, rabbits, goats, dogs and cats. And the occasional orphaned raccoons. Oh yes let us not forget the plethora of chickens.

The house has been mostly updated in a kind way. Not remodeled . I still only have one bathroom which is where they put it rright of the dining room in the 50's. We put in a new deep well. But still have the original well hand  pump on the porch that still works fine. Which brings me to the mud porch. It had old original poured cement floors, 5 windows and 4 doors. One to the outside, two into the main house. Kitchen and dinning room which we use as the Main entrance. And one into the summer kitchen/coal storage room. Soon to be hannahs creek farm stay !

Back to the mud porch. Now has a vinyl floor! Oh so easy to clean said mud from.  A new washer and dryer! HE to save our precious well water. A new utility sink. Storage to hold everything! An area to house horse feed/bird feed ( metal trash cans w lids to keep mice out)! A place for boots/shoes, coats. A place for recycle items. And a new work bech for will and all of his tools ect.

Our duct work for the geothermal runs through this room into the farm stay, as well as electrical, and plumbing.

I hope you enjoy the pictures!
